Well it's happening again...

A Canadian team is 4 wins away from winning the Stanley Cup...

I now realize how hypocritical it was to write that since my team was out of the playoffs last year (and SURPRISINGLY this year as well...anyone?) and how because of that I don't cheer for anyone in the playoffs, then go on to write that in the 2004 and 2006 Finals I cheered for Tampa Bay and Carolina to win those series.

So I guess this year I'll clarify...

As long as one of the other 5 Canadian teams aren't on some run that's getting half the country into that bullshit "bring the cup back to Canada" bandwagon...my original point stands...I don't cheer for anyone..

HOWEVER...much like last year, 2006, 2004, and whenever the hell the last time a Canadian team other than the Leafs went on some run to win the Stanley Cup...I will ACTIVELY cheer against said Canadian team...

Why?

Because I'm a bitter, bitter Leafs fan...that's why.

Much like not having an "other" or "second" team in each respective sport (that's for another day), I also don't give two shits about whether or not a team plays north of the US-Canada border.

If a team is going to "bring the cup back" to Canada, I want to be "brought back" to Toronto.

Nowhere else.

Why do people care so much about a team from a city farther than most U.S. cities that is led by a pair of homo-erotic Swedish twins?

I am in actual disbelief how many stupid Canucks car flags I've seen.

Am I supposed to have 6 separate team flags in a drawer somewhere next to my Canadian passport?
